Kasauni is a scenic and splendourful hill station located just 53 km to the north of Almora, in the state of uttaranchal or uttrakhand. It is in the Himalayas. It is located at 6075 feet or 1890 mts above the sea level. From these hills we can view 300 kms around the Himalayan Mountain. This is an area full of deep and dense pine forest. Kasauni is not well known hill station like nainital or Dalhousie. Kasauni is quite often compared to Switzerland and it is called the gem of the Himalayas.

Kasauni is located atop the Pingnath peak in a narrow ridge and is flanked by river Kosi and river Gomti on both sides. The season is all year through except the monsoon in july and august. The clothes you have to carry is light woollens in summer and heavy woollens in the winter.

The nearest airport is Pantnagar which is 180 kms from kasauni and the nearest railway station is Kathgodam which is 142 kms away. The hill station is connected by road to all the nearby towns. It is situated in the Kumoan hills well known for its tigers. Wide variety of accommodation like hotels, resorts, eco huts, cottages and ashrams are available depending on your budget. The average cost per day comes to INR 1250- 1850 per day in hotels and resorts. There is something for every visitor from history to pilgrimage, from sightseeing to adventure sports andd just relaxation. It has on view a streach of peaks including nanda devi and trishul.

Bageshwar

Bageshwar  - Kasauni - TravelBageshwar is  situated 39 kms from Kasauni and is one of the important places in the hills of kumoan. It is a sacred place dotted with a lot of temples and is called the temple town. Every visitor on entering bageshwar becomes a pilgrim.

Bageshwar is situated at the place where river sarayu meets river Gomti. Suryakund and Agnikund are the famous ponds which attract the pilgrims. The place is filled with peace and serenity and is a balm for stressed soul and mind of a travelling person. Uttaryani is the annual fair which is organised every year in January.

 

 

Gandhi Ashram (Anasakti Ashram)

Gandhi Ashram - Anasakti Ashram - Kasauni travelMahatma Gandhi the father of our nation stayed in the anasakti ashram in the year1929. after his visit the place is called as Gandhi ashram. He was very impressed by the undisturbed nature of the hills arund and stayed here for 12 days.

In this time period he wrote a book titled  Anashakti Yoga . this book is available at the magnificent ashram library which also has many books on different topics. The view of the peaks from this ashram in spell bounding and a spectacle to watch. The ashram is calm and serene and gives a peace of mind.

Kasauni Tea Estate


Kasauni Tea Estate Giria uttaranchal tea is the name of the tea produced in Kasauni tea estate. This estate is situated 1200 to 1800 mts abve sea level. It is specially flavoured tea made with utmost care for connoisseurs of tea all over the world.
The tea is exported to many countries like Australia, Korea, Germany and United States of America. 208 hectares of tea plantation and a Factory is owned by the kasuani tea estate. This tea is special since it is grown in misty and cool climate. Visit to the tea estate with the help of guides is on the cards.

Kot Bhramari Temple

Kot Bhramari Temple  - KasauniKot brahmari temple is known as Kote-ke-mai, or  Bhramari Devi temple. It  is situated on the top of a hill with in a fort. It is located in bageshwar district and is 5 kms from kasauni town. It is believed that Adi Guru Shankaracharya made a stay here on the way during his journey to Garhwal region.

During the festival of nanda raj jat the Goddess , bhramari is taken to join with the main Yatra in a procession at Nandkesari on the banks of river Pinder. A fair is held every year on Nanda Ashtami in the month of Bhadrapad Aug/Sept.

Lakshmi Ashram (Sarla Ashram)

This ashram is situated  one kilometre  away from Anashakti Ashram. It was built in the year 1964 overlooking the kosi valley. Lakshmi ashram is a well known social service organisation concentrating on development of women and especially under privileged women. Welfare programmes are run to benefit women in this organisation. Sarla Ben, one of Gandhijis disciples stayed here all her life.

Equipping the women through education, awareness and exposure to stand on their own is is the main aim and goal of the Ashram. The ashram is a place of women development and is worth looking and has great views of the mountains.

Planets Show

Planets show is a planetarium cum internet caf that is run by an astronomy enthusiast in kasauni. This place atop a hill has excellent view of the stars apart from the clouds and mist and when clear night sky is available star gazing is an option for the tourists who are interested.

The equipments including varieties of telescope for star gazing is pretty good at planets show and it is open to all through the week till 11 o clock in the night. The enthusiast enlightens the tourists about the planets and stars every evening and charges a small fee.

Rudradhari Falls and Caves

Rudradhari Falls and Caves - KasauniThe rudhadhari falls and caves are located in the Kasauni- almora road on the way to someshwar. It can be viewed on the way to treks like the adi kailash trek. It is naturally beautiful waterfall, is scenic and is situated 12 kms from Kasauni and it makes a lot of noise while falling down. The water then flows into the rivers and small lakes.

The water is comparatively very cold.It is a prime attraction and a landmark for the trekkers and gives enthusiasm for trekkers to go on and climb higher. The shiva temple of someshwar is nearby the Rudhradhari  falls.

 

Sumitranandan Pant Gallery

Sumitranandan Pant GallerySumitranandan Pant Gallery is a museum near the bus stand in kasauni. It is dedicated to the memory of    Sumitra Nandan Pant a national  hindi poet. The place of the museum was the home of the poet in his childhood days.

The ancestral house was converted into a museum where all his letters, manuscripts and poems are displayed for the public to see. The museum at present is managed by the department of archaeology of the state of uttrakhand. The whole collection in the museum was used by pantji in his day to day life in childhood and youth.
