Andaman
Water Sports Complex
The
Water Sports Complex is uniquely of special kind in India. People who love to
enjoy in water find this place as a perfect spot to explore the adventures. All

Aqua-glide, Kayaks, Paddle Boats, Aqua-cycle, Rowing boats, Bumper boats etc

this complex has neatly maintained Swimming Pool, Change room, Nature-walk, Food

battle which was fought during May 1859 between the Andamanese and British
resulting in death of many Andamanese.

Forest
Museum lies within the city near a place called Haddo. This museum has been
taken over by the forest department and stores all types of trees that are found
in the islands. As natural resources are found in great lot, this museum
preserves each of its kind and portrays in a different way.
The
entire trees name including its kind is exhibited along with it and handicrafts
that are wooden made are also displayed and sold out. Even decorative wooden
pieces made of famous woods like Marble, Peauma, Gurjan, Padauk, Satin Wood, etc
are displayed here. This museum is kept open on all working days.
Anthropological Museum
Andaman
is a shed of varied museums and anthropological museum maintains a historical
delight. Located at
Phoenix
Bay, which lies between the Bus Stand and the Delanipur road, it portrays the
lifestyle of the Paleolithic Islanders. Also it houses all the models and rare
photographs of the Andaman aborigines taken along with few Indian officials
during their visit on
26th
April 1967.
However, all the tools such as bows, arrows and other instruments used by them
while hunting are displayed here. Anthropologists are being charged for making a
record of the expedition and this museum is not open to public on Mondays and
all government holidays.

Havelock Island bears beautiful sandy beaches with forests that are lush green.
Near to this charming environment is yet another small beach called the
Radhanagar beach where Island camping is famous for. It serves a thrilling

Locally, tents are available at many places in the Andaman Island for Island

Barren

Barren
Island also known as the land of volcano is located 135 kms away from Port Blair
which is the capital of Andaman. In fact it is the only active volcano in India.
This Island covers about 3 kms and possesses a huge nook of the volcano abruptly
rising for about km from the sea. Hence this island can be visited only on
ships and it ranges to 150 fathoms steep from the shore. It lies in between the
arc of Sumatra and Myanmar and there are a couple of spatter cones of which one
is on the western flank and the other on south-eastern flank.

islands adding a scenic dcor to the surroundings. The white sandy beaches and
the palm trees are excellent to watch out. Basically, this Aquarium provides
detailed description of the sea life that prevails in these waters.
It owns
fine range of crabs, prawns, dolphins, sharks, crocodiles and also species of
shells and plants numbering to 350 that can be seen under the water. Marina Park
is just behind the aquarium and invites many children to enjoy the rides along
with the mini train. This park has become a major picnic spot as creatures
living under the sea can be seen right in front of our eyes.
Cellular Jail

Jail is a National Memorial and located at Port Blair. This jail has witnessed
the tortures met by the freedom fighters who were imprisoned here. Being built
up in 1906 the jail derived the name cellular as the cells were made
individually for the prisoners private imprisonment.
Earlier
there were seven spines with a tower in its center and huge structure consisted
corridors in honey-comb shape and now only three spines are in contact. In this
jail Netaji Subash Chandra Bose hoisted the Indian Flag during 1943 and in the
50th year of Indian Independence all the freedom fighters and their family were
honored by the Indian President on December 30th, 1997.

who love animals and in search of special information should make it a point to
visit the mini zoo! Many rare animals such as the crab eating macaque, Andaman
pigs, the Green Imperial Pigeon of Nicobar can be found here which solely belong
to Andaman Islands exclusively.
To make
the breeding of these species moving close to death, the islanders set the
animals freely when needed as they powerfully believe that these animals belong
primarily to their own natural habitats. The breeding of salt-water crocodile is
being done by the zoo authorities and have been successful in it for many
years.

has ever seen and was built during the reign of British. Made of costly woods
like Marble, Curzon, Satin and Patak, all are cut into blocks, sleepers and
planks of different sizes. They are sold after being dropped into chemical
solutions.
The
Islanders and also people of different states use these products as per their
requirements. Also they need to obtain permits for such woods to be used in
construction of houses, factories and government offices. Moreover these woods
are exported to other Indian states through ships and around 1000 laborers are
employed in this mill.

Island is a beautiful island located at 36 kms away from Port Blair. These white
sandy beaches with lush green forest serve as the vegetable bowl of the Andaman
Islands. Though the islands are connected only four days in a week by boat from
the capital town, Neil Island is completely eco-friendly and the tourists
convert in to an ideal holiday tour.
The
Directorate of Toursim has built a guest house named the Hawabill Nest and one
really feels the serenity and sincerity of the life in villages here. The major
attractions of this island are the beaches in Bharatpur, Laxmanpur, Sitapur as
well as the Howra Bridge, which is a formation created on the sea shore.
Corbyns Cove

Cove is located 7km away from Port Blair and is one of the most scenic and
charming beaches in the town. It is an ideal place for sun-basking and sea
bathing. The crystal clear waters and the peaceful surroundings tempt the
visitors to stay in the beach the whole long day.

source of attraction is the tall standing palm trees appearing green and while
matching them with crystal clear blue waters it renders an awesome feeling to
the tourists. Beach combing and riding are considered some of the favorite
sports at sea and it also has a restaurant nearby providing snacks and drinks at
cost.

Ross
Island stands as guard to the Port Blair harbor which was previously its capital
when the British ruled and is indeed a tiny island. Now it houses only the ruins
of old buildings such as the Govt. House, Church, Chief Commissioners House,
Ballroom, Hospital, Bakery, Swimming pool, Troop barracks and Press, all in
decrepit condition redolent of the old regime.
This
Island is spread over a distance of just 0.6 square kilometer and completely
preserves the old ruins with a historical backdrop. Also close by within the
island, a small museum called the Smiritika is established portraying the past
of the island.

Island is located in the Andamans south and is 30kms away from Port Blair.
Since road transport doesnt exist it is completely a calm island with palm
trees shredded around. Near to this Island a natural beach exists called the
Radhanagar beach and densely spread forests can be noticed along its coastline.
People
who love nature find this place a heaven and wish to live their moment. We can
also see the elephants coming out from the forest to the beach side, taking bath
as well as drinking cool drinks. Children enjoy this scene as it gives a
completely different experience.
Jarawa
Reserve
The
Jarawa Reserve is a tribal area which lies very close to Port Blair and stands
150 km away from a Trunk Road which connects to Mayabunder from Port Blair. The
specialty of this reserve is that it has the largest and best collection of
timber still existing in Andaman. To reach this reserve one has to go to Uttara
Jetty which lies on a different island and from there a drive of about 75 kms
leads way to the Reserve.
Between
the western coast of
Middle
and
South
Andaman Islands,
the reserve is spread over about 765 square kilometers. Strict entry to the
reserve is followed after getting written permission from the government
officials.

Andaman, as the name signifies, is a small
Island
located around 120 kms away from Andaman by sea. This indeed is a charming place
which has wonderful plantations of oil palms, a waterfall and also a marvelous
beach at the
Butler
Bay. Not only this, there are several other sandy beaches along the islands
coastline.
Tourists can have an excellent view of the breaking water at the Hut Bay.
However, this Island is considered as the vegetable bowl for
Nicobar
Islands group. Mostly Onge tribals and the Nicobarese live in Little Andaman
and entry is highly restricted to that area.

Mahatma
Gandhi Marine National Park plays an important role in viewing the marine
diversity and was established in the year 1983. Being located at Wandoor, it
covers a distance of 29kms from the capital town. The total space of this Marine
National Park is around 281.50 sq.km out of which 220sq.km comprises territorial
sea water.
Beautiful tropical forests, sandy white beaches and greeny mangroves decorate
the place and it consists of 15 varied sized islands. The marine life is rich
and includes diverse range of colorful fishes, shells, turtles, starfish, coral
reefs, salt water crocodile etc. Also, mixture of birds can be viewed like the
White-Bellied Sea Eagle.

Island
Long
Island is 82kms away from Port Blair and can be accessed only four times a week
by boat from the Phoenix Bay Jetty. The sandy beaches are excellent at the
Lalaji
Bay and provide a neat and clean environment free from pollution and dense
forests that are evergreen.
Dolphin
groups wander around the sea covering this island and make a scenic view. Away
from boat jetty, around 6 kms, lies the Lalaji Bay which is accessed in 15
minutes time by boat or even walks through the dense forest. Also Island Camping
is being offered to the tourists during the season by Directorate of Tourism.

Andaman, known as the

has varied forms of entertainment under and above the sea! They offer an
interesting world of the marine life under-water with diverse range of colorful
fishes, strange remains of the sunken ships, coral reefs rarest collection in
the world, etc.

explore the adventure practically and gain some awesome experience under the
sea. At Wandoor is located the Andaman and Nicobar Scuba Diving Society which
provides lots of opportunities in Scuba Diving. To make the divers more
comfortable, private divers help them hand in hand.

and Smith both are twin islands spread out by a sand bar in between. From the
water sports center of Kalipur or the Aerial bay Jetty it covers about 30
minutes travel to this island. During the tourist season, island camping at the
Smith Island is offered by the Directorate of Tourism.
The
beauty of village life in a place called Diglipur can be felt and the tourists
wish to enjoy the full holiday with them. To have fun of the holidays that are
not hurried and stay relaxed from the urban life, one should definitely visit
here and have a breakthrough. Saddle peak, the most popular place is well known
for trekking through the green forests.

Samudrika Marine Museum is located just opposite to the Andaman Teal House in
Delanipur and Indian Navy maintains this Museum which has innumerable collection
of crocodiles, dolphins, sharks, prawns, crabs and other 350 species of plants
and shells of the marine life. In dedication to the marine corals and
archaeology, rooms are provided to preserve these natural species and awareness
is created on the marine environment.
The
galleries display the entire picture of the
Island
and also depict how the varied tribal groups lived their ages surviving in this
small Island. The eco-system of all the
Islands
is also completely pictured and made convincing.
